When a general contractor invites you to a project, you will receive a Request for Proposal. You can respond to this via the email you received or by logging in directly to the 12Build platform. In this article, you’ll learn how this process works.

Receiving a Request for Proposal

As soon as a general contractor selects your company for a project, you will receive an email.

  • This email contains information about the general contractor and the specific project.

  • The email includes several buttons to take immediate action, such as viewing documents or submitting a proposal. 

Responding from the email

You can respond to the General Contractor directly from the email. Each button takes you to the appropriate project page:

  1. Express interest: Indicate whether or not you’re participating. You can add a message for the general contractor, for example, regarding the expected date of your proposal.

  1. Submit a proposal: Use the green button to upload your proposal directly. 

  2. Documents: Use the specific document buttons to view or download the project documents. 

Log in to 12Build

After clicking a button in the email, you will be redirected to the application. Access depends on your status:

  • Already logged in: You will immediately see the full project overview.

  • Not logged in: You will see the project with limited access. Click Log in for full functionality.

  • Link expired: Are you getting a message that the link no longer works? Then log in manually to access the project.

  • Limited permissions: If you were added by the General contractor but do not yet have full permissions within your own company, ask your organization’s administrator to increase your access.

Tip: If you have forgotten your password or do not have one yet, use the link on the login screen to reset it.

Question: Can I respond without logging in? Answer: You can view the project and leave a basic comment, but to access all documents and features, you must log in.

Question: Will the general contractor see my message immediately? Answer: Yes, as soon as you send a comment using the buttons, it will appear immediately in the general contractor’s communication overview.

Troubleshooting

  • Symptom: I can see the project, but I cannot download any documents.

    • Cause: You are likely not fully logged in, or as a contact person, you have not yet been granted full permissions by your administrator.

    • Solution: Click the Log In button or contact the 12Build administrator within your company.
