From Reactive to Proactive Market Leadership in Access Technology. For 90 years, DOM has been an established name in the world of locks and hardware. Although the company is the market leader in mechanical cylinders for residential construction, reaching the right projects in a digitalizing market proved to be a challenge. Taking control in a "gray" world

Previously, DOM described its approach as “extremely reactive.” The team relied on invitations from clients or random tips about tenders on platforms. In a construction sector that Lars Langstraat, Account Manager at DOM, describes as a “gray world” that sometimes lags years behind technological developments, it was difficult to bring innovations like electronic locking to the forefront in a timely manner.

More grip on the market and innovation

DOM has observed that the market for electronic access technology is booming, with annual growth rates of up to 20%. Thanks to 12Build, the team can now get involved at an early stage to present these modern solutions.

  • Visibility: By maintaining a presence on the platform, DOM strengthens its image as a leading player that seamlessly combines both mechanical and electronic systems. 

 

Strong partnerships as a foundation

A unique aspect of DOM’s approach is that they always deliver through the hardware trade. 12Build acts as the connecting factor here. “A great dynamic develops with partners,” says Lars. “We see a project on 12Build, consult with our partners, and work together. We handle the technical discussions, and they take care of the delivery.”

Although DOM has only been using the platform since early 2026, its goals are clear. The company aims to use 12Build to get involved even earlier in the construction process, ideally right from the start with architects and project developers. In doing so, they want to prevent access technology from remaining an “afterthought” that is only considered at the very last minute.

With a planned move to larger premises in The Hague and a growing focus on the Belgian market via 12Build, DOM Nederland is ready for the future. The combination of 90 years of history and a modern, proactive platform strategy ensures that all signals are green.
