Summary

Before changing sensitive data, 12Build requires additional verification via your password, email, or an authenticator app. By setting up two-factor authentication (2FA), you add an extra layer of security to the login process using an external app.

Requirements and target audience

This article is relevant for all users who want to add extra security to their account.

  • Availability: Don’t see the option? As a general contractor, your (sub)administrator can enable this. Are you a Subcontractor? Then email support@12build.com.

  • Requirements: A smartphone with an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or LastPass Authenticator.

Verifying actions

When you modify users’ personal data or access rights, the system will request additional authentication.

  1. When prompted for verification, choose from the following options:

    • Enter your password.

    • Request a link via email.

    • Use the code from your authenticator app (if 2FA is enabled).

  2. If you wish to execute multiple actions in succession without verifying each time, select the option “Don’t ask me for authentication again for the next 10 minutes.”

Set up two-factor authentication (2FA)

Follow these steps to link your account to a security app.

  1. Click My Account in the top-right corner of the menu.

  2. Navigate to the Security tab.

  3. On the right side, click the "Enable two-step verification" button.

  4. Enter your password to verify.

  5. A QR code will appear on the screen. Scan it with your authenticator app or manually enter the code listed below the QR code.

  6. Your account is now linked.

Signing in with two-step verification

Once 2FA is enabled, your password alone is no longer sufficient to log in.

  1. Enter your username and password on the login page (or use Single Sign-On).

  2. Open the authenticator app on your phone.

  3. Enter the temporary numeric code from the app on the 12Build login screen to gain access.
