How can I move or delete a project?

In this article, you will learn how to manage projects within the project archive as an administrator or sub-administrator. You will learn how to move projects to other locations or how to permanently delete a project.

You can move or delete projects via the project archive in 12Build. Projects can only be moved to branches to which you, as a user, have access, and deletion always requires a prior backup.

Prerequisites and Target Audience

This article is intended for (sub)administrators of 12Build. To move a project, you must have the permissions to switch between sites using the option in the top right corner of the platform. Projects can only be moved to sites of the General contractor.

Moving projects

Follow these steps to move a project to another branch:

  1. Click on the name of the project you are currently working on.

  2. Click the All Projects option to open the project archive.

  3. If necessary, use the filter on the left to search by project name. 

  4. In the Actions column, click the three dots next to the relevant project. 

  5. Select the Move project option.

     

Deleting projects

Deleting a project is a permanent action that requires a backup to be generated first.

  1. Navigate to the project archive via the project name and click on All Projects.

  2. Locate the project you wish to delete.

  3. Click the three dots in the Actions column.

  4. Select the option to create and download a backup. 

  5. You will receive the backup via email. You can download the file from the email or directly from the project archive.

  6. Refresh the screen periodically (use the F5 key) to update the status.

  7. Once the backup is complete and downloaded, you can permanently delete the project. 

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question: Why can’t I move a project to a specific location? Answer: You can only move projects to locations you have access to via the “change location” option in the top right corner. Check that you have the appropriate permissions for the target location.

Question: Is it mandatory to create a backup before deleting? Answer: Yes, in 12Build you must first create and download a backup before the option to delete the project becomes available.

Troubleshooting

  • Symptom: The project archive does not display the backup status correctly.

    • Cause: The page has not yet been synchronized with the server.

    • Solution: Refresh the page by pressing the F5 key.

  • Symptom: I cannot locate the “Move project” option.

    • Cause: You are not logged in as an (administrator) or do not have access to other locations.

    • Solution: Check your user permissions or switch locations in the top-right corner to verify your access.
