How can I compare prices?

In this article, you will learn how to compare proposals and prices submitted by subcontractors to make an accurate comparison within 12Build.

As soon as subcontractors submit their prices via 12Build, you can open a price comparison for each workpackage. In this overview, you can view all budget lines side by side, manually adjust amounts, and export the entire overview to Excel.

Prerequisites and Target Audience

This article is intended for estimators and buyers who have sent bill of quantities or budget lines to subcontractors. To make a comparison, prices must have been submitted or manually entered into the system.

Opening the price comparison tool

In the communication overview, you can see the status of the submitted proposals at a glance

  1. Click the Vergelijk offertes icon (3) next to the desired workpackage. 

Editing prices and adding additional lines

You have full control over the amounts displayed in the comparison overview.

  1. Adjust prices: Double-click on a specific price (1) in the comparison to change it manually.

  2. Additional price lines: Check the bottom of the overview (2) for lines that subcontractors have manually added to their quote.

  3. Add external proposals: Did you receive a proposal outside of 12Build? First, add an inbox message to the specialist in the communication overview, then manually enter the price lines for a complete comparison. 

Export overview

For further analysis or archiving, you can save the data outside of 12Build.

  1. Open the price comparison for the desired workpackage.

  2. Click the Excel button (3) in the top right corner of the screen to download the overview immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question: Can I compare subcontractors from different workpackages? Answer: The price comparison is generated per workpackage. In the overview, click the 'Compare proposals' icon next to the other workpackage to view that specific comparison.

Question: What does a gray euro icon in the overview mean? Answer: A gray icon (or the absence of an orange icon) indicates that the subcontractor has not yet submitted prices via the digital bill of quantities.

Troubleshooting

  • Symptom: I cannot enter prices for a subcontractor who submitted a quote via email.

    • Cause: There is no link between the external proposal and the system.

    • Solution: First, add an inbox message for the relevant subcontractor in the communication overview; the price fields will then become available for manual entry.

  • Symptom: The total price in the comparison does not match the PDF proposal.

    • Cause: The subcontractor may have added extra price lines at the bottom or made a calculation error in the lines.

    • Solution: Check the additional lines at the bottom of the comparison overview and, if necessary, adjust the amounts by double-clicking on the price.
