Prerequisites and Target Audience

This guide is specifically intended for the Account Admin of BIM 360 Enterprise. Integrations can only be approved at this level. Additionally, users are required to log in via SSO to use the integration in 12Build.

Logging in to BIM 360

The configuration begins within the Autodesk environment.

  1. Log in to your BIM 360 Enterprise account.

  2. Navigate to the Integrations tab. 

Add integration

Next, start the process to add 12Build as a trusted app.

  1. Click the Add Integration button. 

  2. Select the permissions the 12Build app should have access to. Specifically choose BIM 360 Docs here. 

Fill in the Developer option and values

To ensure the systems can communicate securely with each other, enter the specific 12Build details.

  1. Select the I am the developer option. 

  2. Enter the following values exactly:

    • clientID: sFEKClBux3szysF4RlyqL6lIUGqOItNY

    • App name: 12Build 

Save and activate

The app now needs to be activated within your account.

  1. Click Save.

  2. Return to the Integrations page.

  3. Locate the new 12Build app and click Activate

Log in with SSO

Once the technical integration is set up in BIM 360, users in 12Build must use the correct login method.

  1. Ensure that you are logged in to 12Build using SSO (Single Sign-On).

  2. After a successful login, BIM 360 files can be viewed and downloaded within 12Build projects.

Question: Can I set up the integration as a Project Admin? Answer: No, adding integrations at the account level can only be done by a BIM 360 Enterprise Account Admin.

Question: Why don’t I see my BIM 360 files in 12Build? Answer: Check to see if you’re logged in via SSO. Without an SSO connection, 12Build cannot securely verify authentication with Autodesk.

Troubleshooting

  • Symptom: The integration has been saved but the status remains 'Inactive'.

    • Cause: The app has not yet been manually activated in the integration overview after saving.

    • Solution: Navigate back to the Integrations tab in BIM 360 and click the activation button specifically for the 12Build app.
